Our Story

At Two Acre Farm, our products are all handmade by us. We embrace artisinal traditions and combine them with modern techniques, love, and care to make our products. We are dedicated to crafting handmade soaps, lotions, and plastic-free household goods, where quality is prioritized over quantity. The products reflect our ethos; understanding nature, environmental awareness, love of food, growing and harvesting our own ingredients, historic traditions, community, and curiosity.

Two Acre Farm is a creation of Karen and Gord. With skills gained from an environmental science degree, Karen creates natural recipes with traditional plants and ingredients, which enhance the skin, and minimize environmental impact. Gord grew up loving and working in his family’s garden, and cherishes a fresh picked, properly ripened fruit or vegetable. Gord, a Waterloo engineering graduate, leverages his skills to solve technical problems, logistics and in incorporating new tools and production methods.

Our goal as a small company is to offer customers a unique and personal experience, and foster a sense of community. We try to reflect this spirit in other aspects of our lives as well, and share our land with local residents in the form of a community garden (Cook Community Gardens managed by Free Spirit Gardens, Collingwood).

Environmental responsibility is a significant part of our business, as reducing ecological impact and creating sustainable products is of high importance to us. We use only recyclable or compostable jars and wrappers, and avoid plastics whenever possible. Our money is spent on ingredients, and not on wasteful packaging.

As well as working on our products, we also grow our own fruits and vegetables, and try to actively expand native habitat. We’re in the process of replacing our lawns with pollinator gardens, and a wildlife pond to support native insects, birds and small mammals. Ultimately, our goal is to protect our little sliver of land from suburban development.
